#Enfield sten mk ii code#
This example looks to have been assembled by Grundy based on the presence of their wartime code of ‘S41’, seen on the upper left side of the bayonets body section. These scarce bayonet’s were manufactured by a group of component sub-contractors, then welded/assembled by two & possibly three firms. Extremely rare in collectors hands, as nearly all examples of this bayonet were said to have been scrapped after the second World War. Last, please note the stamped letter/number in the spike itself just forward of the body section.this is also not present on the repro examples. Also note the tip of the spike, as the reproductions are not so well done as the originals.
The reproductions are crudely handmade and the differences are most apparent. Please don’t be fooled by the large number of reproduction STEN bayonets flooding the market in recent years as these reproduction bayonets are fairly faithful to the originals, but when set side by side with and ORIGINAL example, the differences become crystal clear ! Please look at the photographs carefully of the ORIGINAL bayonet that is for sale, next to one of the better quality repro’s (ORIGINAL BAYONET IS THE LOWER OF THE TWO IN ALL SIDE BY SIDE PHOTOGRAPHS).as you will see, the differences are instantly apparent ! Items of note, the raised nib of the spring catch, as well as the shape & radius of the vertical extension of this same spring. Up for sale is an ORIGINAL, excellent condition example of possibly the rarest & most sought after of British World War 2 bayonet, the STEN MkII bayonet.
